Met with Dr. Buckley yesterday and expressed my frustration.  He reminded me this is a process and individual results can differ.   He also reminded me to compare where i am to where i started- not where i want to be.  He provided several examples that progress is occurring: 1) i couldn't feel the laser heat on much of my feet during the initial assessment and on my palms during the early therapy sessions- now it is VERY light in places. 2) Early experiences/sensations were constant- and near the halfway point i have good hours and some not so good.  He also tempered my expectations that i might not realize full healing and no discomfort- but that i should accept that improvements have occurred and are occurring still.  I'm not radically enthusiastic about his answer, but i understand it.   I can't even say he is wrong.  I'm simply disappointed because in my mind, i had expected a near recovery by this point considering where i started and th...

I went camping this last weekend with the scouts but still managed to stick to the diet.  Friday dinner was meat chili.  Saturday breakfast was a cheese omelette.  Saturday lunch was turkey and cheese sandwich but i brought my own bread- i found some that only had 2 carbs per slice, so my sandwich had 4 carbs by my calculation.   For Saturday dinner, i had 2 jalapeno cheeseburgers on my special bread- so that was another 8 carbs.  Since then, i skip breakfasts most days.   Lunch was beef sticks & cheese.  Dinner was a cauliflower crust pizza.   I checked my ketones yesterday, and they are holding at 0.8. For the important part, my fingers and toes seem to have been worse this week- noticeably in the morning, but especially in the evening.  Sleeping in the sleeping bag was slightly uncomfortable- not because i was on reduced bedding, but because my feet were in reduced space so my toes felt especially uncomfortable- they jus...

I purchased a ketone meter to get a quantifiable measure of how i was doing on the Keto diet.  My ketones measured at 0.9 yesterday- 0.5 -> 1.5 is light ketosis....  I've read that 1.5 -> 3.0 is ideal.  I'm not sure how to move it higher as i have not knowingly been cheating on the assigned keto diet. This morning i weighed on the scale at 228.3.  My glucose average for all 4 meals is below 100- which is a 15-20 pt drop from my 2020 averages. I also did the first mm wavelength treatment yesterday and noticed zero difference- which leads me to my point today.... I've now completed 10 of the 24 treatments.  Since starting treatment with Dr Thai's practice at Advanced Nerve and Health, I've seen notable weight loss and laudible improvements in glucose- but still minimal to no changes in the way my fingers and toes feel on a daily basis.   To be entirely fair- when i started treatment, it seemed to be a 24x7 constant and now it feels better/worse at ...

Finished my 3rd supplement last night.   This was a berry flavored detox.  I'll tell you I've never tasted a berry like this though, and that isn't a compliment.  It's tolerable if the water is really cold, but the drink is the color of the incredible hulk, and if you shake it too much, it can turn partially frothy.... it's the froth i found yucky.   Don't shake it, and i couldn't get it dissolved entirely.  Oh well, it was only 30 days.  Hopefully, you can enlarge the pictures below to read ingredients if you want.

Finished the last of the meal supplement shake this morning- so it's time for me to post that too: They instructed i take this in the morning as a breakfast replacement.   Like the neurorecharge, they said it is fine that i no longer take this.   To be transparent, i don't feel that much different than 30 days ago.    I'm more than 1/3 through my treatment plan l (started dec 21 and scheduled through mar 11 - today is jan 20).  I had hoped to be feeling more progress by now but Dr Buckley isn't anxious yet- at least not toward me.   During the most recent therapy session yesterday he did say he was going to modify my sessions starting on the next visit- so we'll see what changes.

Neurorecharge Supplement

Image
I said early on i would describe the prescribed supplements.  The first one I am going to talk about is the neurorecharge.  This is a burnt orange colored syrup that tastes like the smell of the lumber department in Home Depot.   Beyond the taste, I only have 2 other observations about this particular supplement:  1) I didn't notice that it did anything- but in fairness, they have also said multiple times that nerves take time to heal so I am withholding judgment.  2) This supplement says it was 30 servings which should have lasted until Jan 22- I ran out today on Jan 14, about 8 days early.  I thought I was measuring pretty accurately, but either: a) my walgreens medicine dispensing cup was off slightly; or b) the contents of the bottle were off; or c) i took just a TINY bit too much every day for the last 3 weeks.  The last choice appears to be the most likely.   When I was at the office last visit, i mentioned I was running out....

Day 22 - Jan 12

The past 2-3 days have been off in many ways.  I gained nearly 2 lbs this last week.  Average blood sugars for glucose have gone from the high 80s/low 90s to low 100s (still below120 but triple digits now), and nerve sensations are back to the state when i started treatment (at least for the last 2 days).   So what is the same and what is different?  I'm still following the keto diet protocol very rigidly- trying to keep carbs<30g/day.  Still taking the supplements as directed.  For differences, I've been taking the green detox drink at bedtime rather than 2 hrs before.  Not exercising this week (installing a tile floor in the bathroom).  Staying up later- average sleep at 6 hrs/night rather than 8.  I've had some snacks between meals or after- jalapeno sunflower seeds (mostly spice, not the seeds), pickles, jalapeno stuffed olives, cheddar cheese slices.  And i now allow myself 4 pieces of the sugar-free candy / day (2 @ lunch, ...

Day 19 - Jan 9

I discovered they sell highly overpriced sugar-free candy that tastes really good, and i also learned that too much of that candy doesn't do good things at all.   I'll spare the graphic details.  I'll simply say that when i eat more, i still need to exercise great discretion and limit how many pieces i eat- sugar free or not.  In other news, the end of my toes on my left foot actually actually almost normal tonight.  The base of the toes where it connects to the foot still tingles a lot, and the right foot does too as do all my fingers.... but this is a good change.

Day 17

So i backed off my daily updates because there just wasn't enough difference between the days and it seemed rather repetitive to me.   I'm writing tonight because i want to capture some observations that are worth noting.  1) Yesterday was a therapy day.   As i was sitting at the stop light, my fingers actually felt pretty good.  (No noticeable change in my toes. )  By the time i got home (45 minutes away).  The tingling was back in my fingertips.  2) Today, near the end of my workday... i noticed my toes actually felt much better than they have in weeks.... it was also momentary though.   By the time i went to bed just after midnight, the tingling was back a strong as normal.  3) speaking of bed time, the tingling/numbness is stronger at the end of the day.   The office says that is encouraging as they are just looking for change in any direction.
